Welcome To International Standards Journalism

International Standards Journalism is an organization of professional journalists dedicated to the highest levels of professionalism in journalism. ISJA is simply learned journalism.

Our membership currently stands at 985 cutting across important media houses in Ghana. The numbers are bound to increase significantly as we have plans to create branches throughout Africa. We believe strongly that ISJA is the future of journalism in Africa and beyond.

Journalism is not regulated in Ghana because it is considered a human right. Everybody has the right to be a journalist. The result is that there is no minimum requirement to become a journalist. As a consequence, all sorts of persons are calling themselves journalists and practicing as such. ISJA however, is about ensuring that journalists are learned and meet international standards in journalism.

All our members have to take courses in Economics, Law, Intelligence, Politics and Social Studies. These courses we run in series using some of the best trainers. To this effect, our collaboration with The Distinguished Scholars of Africa has been very fruitful. In addition, all members abide by a Code of Ethics upholding the highest standards of the profession. We regularly monitor and evaluate the works of our members to ensure standards are upheld.
